Rules on Playing Video Game

Here is my little pumpkin playing his video game we gave him on his birthday almost two months ago. We don't want to interfere this gift on his studies and so hubby and I talked about how we can limit his playtime with it. We have set a rule after we presented Jake our rule for playing his video game and he agreed that he can only play with it on Friday afternoon after school and on Saturday; no more playing from Sunday to Thursday.

Despite of our agreement, he was having hard time accepting it the next day; but later on he has gotten use to not bugging me during school days. Now, he doesn't even think about it till Friday after school. Thank son for listening to us and keeping your promise -). We love you that is why we have to set rules for you to follow. Remember that what we do is for your own good.

Next Year's Summer Vacation

Next year would be our much awaited summer vacation in the Philippines with my husband and son. It would be my son's second visit and hubby's first that is why we are all excited. Hubby never met my family in person yet and it would be very nice if we will spend our summer there so that they have plenty of time to get to know each other. We are already saving for our trip and hoping that we would have enough or even extra pocket money for other expenses. My plan is to rent the house right in front of my parents house, that way we don't need to travel from the city where hotels are located. Since we will be renting that house, I need to ask my brother to buy us bed mattress we would use during our stay there. He also needs to talk to his friend who own a van for we will be needing that, too. The weather is going to be very hot during that time of the year, just hope that my husband and son would be able to survive the heat without getting sick.

Jake was Excited, then Terrified

The first day of school for my son didn't go well. Few days before the school starts, he was very excited and couldn't wait to go back to school just like he felt when he starts Pre K and Kinder. He loves going to school so much...loves to meet new friends...and new teacher, but not this year. The moment I woke him up to prepare for school, his facial expression changed....from excited to terrified! He didn't want to go to school, he hates school, and didn't want to miss Mommy. Despite of our encouragements, he made up his mind. He would rather stay with me than go to school.

My poor little man has a very bad anxiety attack! He wouldn't sleep, keeps asking me to promise to pick him up after school. Seeing him cries every time we drop him off to school breaks my heart. I don't have any choice but leave him there. The next day, he clings on to my shirt crying hard....his teacher has to call the guidance counselor for help. Hubby called later to find out if he is okay. He was fine few minutes after we left him said the guidance counselor. Her advise was to give Jacob a hug and kiss and leave right away when we drop him off the next day. Oh well, easier said than done....but we have to do it. She said in two weeks time, Jacob would be fine and get adjusted to his new school, teacher and classmates. Hubby and I are crossing our fingers with the hope that he would be okay.

Today, we did what the guidance counselor asked us to do, and it seems like it worked! When I picked him up today, her teacher said, Jacob was okay and was able to join the class quickly. Every once in awhile, he would look at his teacher and cries....but his teacher keeps on assuring him that everything will be okay and he would be going home soon.

I don't know what to expect tomorrow; all we can do is pray for him. Hubby and I are really worried for him. He has changed...from a happy little boy to a sad one. We can see in his eyes how much worries he has....If only I can take away that anxiety, I would do it. But how? What can I do to make him feel better and make him love his school again? I want my old son back!

No Man is An Island

One thing I can't live without is friend. And so I say that I believe in the saying that "no man is an island." I am grateful to God/Heavenly Father for blessing me with such great friends both online and offline. Friends who accept me for who and what I am; friends who never judge no matter what my thoughts and opinions are. Juliet and Marivic are the closest friends I have. Each one of us has a six year old boy who called each other "best friend." Every once in awhile our families get together to have fun. One time I noticed that their boys are playing nintendo ds while my son was just watching them. I felt sad for my son and so hubby and I decided that we need to get him one; we ask Jake which one he would prefer, nintendo ds or playstation 3; he said a nintendo ds would be fine. To make a story short, he got what he wanted; and made him an agreement that we set a time and day as to when he could play with it. We both agreed that on school days, he can't play his video game. Friday afternoon and Saturday are the only days he is allowed to play. I really think that parents need to set limits even on playing games on computer, this way they know their limitations and learn to be responsible individual at their tender age.

Friday Fill Ins

2. When some people are thinking, they walk back and forth.
3. I love a DSLR camera or macbook, but couldn't afford it; hubby said we need to save for it.
4. Beef stew and corned bread makes a good meal.
5. I've got the strong faith in God to be healed.
6. I thought she could be trusted since she is a relative, : wth!!!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching Monk marathon, tomorrow my plans include laundry and walking at the park with my son and Sunday, I want to wake up early for church service and then the usual, a relaxing Sunday night with my hubby and son!
