The Fruits of Your Labors

by LDS Living Staff

Gardening is a great summertime activity for the whole family. It helps everyone learn responsibility and how to work together. And the rewards for the effort are delicious. However, there comes a time in many gardens when you have to wonder, “What are we going to do with all of these extra vegetables?” here are some fun ideas to share the fruits of labors with your family and the rest of the neighborhood.

  • Hold a neighborhood vegetable recipe potluck. Home-grown veggies always taste better anyway.
  • Celebrate Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day today, August 8. Make an event of it by having everyone make their favorite zucchini recipe.
  • Take a canning or bottling class. Why let all that good produce go to waste?
